“Travelling will be the scariest, most liberating and life changing experience of your life.”
Break From The Routine
Most people have regular routines that they follow as it is easier to be organized. Once in a while, you may take a break on the weekends to attend the occasional birthday party, anniversary or even wedding. But anyone who travels enough will know the difference. When you travel, your mind and body experience a complete change in the surroundings. The break that travelling provides you with, is better than any other. You come home feeling fresh, different and happy, albeit a little remorseful because your trip is over.
Monotony is one thing, stress is another. If you feel stressed or overworked, traveling is one of the most effective stress busters. Travelling allows you to put aside everything else and focus on yourself for a moment. It helps you recharge.
When you meet new people, your communication and social skills improve. When you speak to someone who might not speak your language or someone who looks completely different and has a different accent, you learn how to express yourself in different ways. You may want directions or meet someone new in a restaurant and in that case, you will have to make conversation which helps you develop these skills in the long run.
Adapt to the Change.
In order to be able to learn how to adapt, you need to experience change. Travelling provides you with this change. When you travel, you experience strange situations and face different challenges, especially if you are travelling alone. To overcome these challenges, you need to adapt and accommodate. This improves your adaptability skills and makes you a more accommodating person.
Learn about cultures and traditions.
You get to know about different cultures and traditions when you travel. If you decide to take a tour, you hear about the history of certain places. You may learn the language of the locals (or at least pick up a few words) and at the same time, you retain the names of the neighboring countries or cities. Overall, it increases your general knowledge or even your knowledge about one specific place.
Helps you become more creative. You may find the perfect scenery for your painting, come across some amazing songs playing in one of those cute little cafes in a strange town or even get inspired to write about your experiences. Travel paves the way for originality.
Being in a place where you do not know anyone will assist you to gain confidence and presence of mind. You will develop the ability to cope with obstacles, which will make you a confident person and help you grow as a person.
Teaches you to admire beauty
Travelling teaches you how to admire true beauty. After travelling a good deal, you definitely will be and feel more open minded. Architecture and nature can only be admired if they are discovered. This may change the way you analyze monuments and other infrastructural projects in your home country.
A cuisine is something that changes according to the country. Travel allows you to let your taste buds experience different and new kinds of food! You may even stumble upon what later becomes your “favorite food”.
It gives you precious memories.
The last but not least is travelling gives you memories which you can keep forever. As you grow older, memories of your past become more and more precious. When you travel, you keep so much of that experience with you. Whether these memories are stored in the form of pictures, videos, writing or just in your brain, they stay with you forever. These memories and experiences are what make you who you are and travel can contribute a lot more to this. These memories are what you hold on to and anyone consumed by wanderlust would be able to tell you how important the memories of his/her travels have been.
